Method
- Mix flour, salt, and baking powder; cut in butter until crumbly.
- Beat egg with water; combine with flour mixture to form dough. Knead, wrap, and chill 30 min.
- Sauté onions in oil until translucent; add garlic and spices. Mix in chicken, peppers, peas, broth, and seasonings. Cool filling.
- Roll out dough to ⅛-inch; cut into 4-5 inch circles. Fill, fold, seal edges with fork.
- Brush empanadas with egg wash. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20-25 min until golden, or fry until crispy.
Notas
For a crisper crust, bake instead of fry and brush with egg wash before baking.
